Online Geography Tutor Jobs
Teach Geography. Get Paid Well. Leave the Admin to Us.
Are you a qualified geography teacher looking for flexible, well-paid online tutor jobs that fit around your life? At Geography Tutors®, we are the UK's only specialist geography tutoring agency — and we are always looking for exceptional geography tutors to join our small, carefully selected team.
We are not a marketplace. We are not a platform where you compete against hundreds of other tutors for the same student. We are a specialist agency that recruits selectively, matches tutors with students who need exactly what they offer, and handles everything else so you can focus entirely on what you do best — teaching outstanding geography.
If you are a qualified geography teacher, a current or former examiner, or a Head of Geography with a track record of results, we want to hear from you.
What We Offer
Competitive, Transparent Pay
Geography Tutors® pays between £33 and £39 per hour, depending on your experience and qualifications. Examiner-qualified tutors and those with senior leadership experience are rewarded at the higher end of that range. There are no hidden deductions, no platform fees taken from your earnings, and no ambiguity about what you will receive. What we quote is what you are paid.
A Steady Flow of Students
One of the most frustrating things about private tutoring is the inconsistency — one busy month followed by weeks of nothing. When you work with Geography Tutors®, we match you with students on an ongoing basis. We receive regular enquiries across AQA, Edexcel, OCR, WJEC, and Eduqas at both GCSE and A Level throughout the academic year, which means our tutors benefit from consistent, reliable work rather than having to hustle for individual students.
Zero Admin
We handle everything that is not teaching. Invoicing, payment collection, parent communication, session scheduling, reminders, and onboarding are all managed by us. You turn up to your sessions, teach exceptional geography, and we take care of the rest. If you have ever spent time chasing unpaid invoices or managing anxious parent WhatsApp messages at 10pm, you will know exactly how valuable this is.
Flexibility That Actually Works
You set your availability. You decide how many students you take on. Whether you want to tutor two students a week to supplement your teaching income or build a fuller tutoring caseload, we work around your schedule. All sessions are delivered online, which means no travel time, no commuting, and no geographic restriction on the students you can work with.
A Professional, Specialist Community
When you join Geography Tutors®, you join a small team of like-minded geography specialists — not a database of thousands of generalist tutors competing for the same listings. We take quality seriously, which means the tutors you work alongside share your professional standards and your commitment to outstanding geography education.
Who We Are Looking For
We recruit selectively and deliberately. We are not looking to grow a large roster of tutors — we are looking for the right tutors. If that sounds like you, read on.
The Experience We Value Most
Qualified geography teachers with QTS and a proven track record of results at GCSE and/or A Level. If you have taught geography in a secondary or sixth form setting and you know your specification inside out, we want to talk to you.
Current or former geography examiners for AQA, Edexcel, OCR, WJEC, or Eduqas. Examiner experience is one of the most valuable things a tutor can bring to a student, and we actively seek tutors who hold or have held examining roles. If this is you, you will be among the most in-demand tutors on our platform.
Heads of Geography and senior geography educators with experience leading departments, managing student progress, and driving outcomes across year groups. The strategic perspective that comes with leadership experience makes for exceptional tutoring.
Specialist GCSE and A Level geography tutors with a demonstrable history of successful private tutoring at these levels, strong subject knowledge, and familiarity with current specifications.
The Qualities That Matter to Us
Beyond qualifications, we look for tutors who bring genuine enthusiasm for geography as a subject and a commitment to student progress that goes beyond delivering sessions. We want tutors who give precise, examiner-quality feedback on student work, who communicate professionally and reliably with our team, and who take the responsibility of working with young people seriously.
We do not work with generalist tutors who happen to teach geography alongside ten other subjects. Geography is our entire focus — and it needs to be yours too.
The Specifications We Cover
Our students come to us across a wide range of specifications at both GCSE and A Level. Current demand includes:
A Level: AQA, Edexcel A, Edexcel B, OCR A, OCR B, WJEC, Eduqas, Cambridge International
GCSE: AQA, Edexcel B, OCR B, WJEC, Eduqas, Cambridge IGCSE
We match every tutor only to the specifications they know well. You will never be asked to tutor a specification you are not confident in. If your expertise sits predominantly with one exam board, that is completely fine — we will match you accordingly and work to fill your availability with students on your strongest specifications first.
What Working With Us Looks Like Day to Day
We believe in being straightforward about what the job actually involves, so here is an honest picture of what tutoring with Geography Tutors® looks like in practice.
Before your first student:
You complete our onboarding process, which includes an Enhanced DBS check if you do not already have a current one, a short interview with our lead tutor, and a brief induction to our tutoring framework and the tools we use. This process is thorough because our standards are high — but it is not bureaucratic, and we move quickly.
When we match you with a student:
We share the relevant details about the student — their year group, specification, current grade, target grade, and any specific areas of focus — and confirm that the match works for you before any commitment is made. You then have a first session, typically framed as a diagnostic, to establish the student's starting point and agree a plan for ongoing sessions.
Ongoing sessions:
You deliver weekly one-to-one sessions via Google Classroom, set tasks between sessions, and provide written feedback on student work where relevant. You log each session through our system, and we handle invoicing and payment collection on your behalf. Payment is made to you at the end of each month.
Communication:
We ask for prompt, professional communication with our team — particularly around session completion, student progress, and any issues that arise. We are a small operation and we work collaboratively, which means we are also responsive and straightforward to deal with from your end.
What Our Tutors Say
"The admin side of private tutoring used to take up so much of my time. Since joining Geography Tutors®, I just teach. Everything else is handled, the students are well-matched, and the pay is better than any platform I've used before." Hannah, A Level Geography Tutor, Geography Tutors®
"I was sceptical about joining another tutoring platform after bad experiences elsewhere. This is completely different - it's a proper specialist agency, the students are serious, and the team is professional and easy to work with." Richard, A Level & GCSE Geography Tutor, Geography Tutors®
"As a current examiner, I find it really satisfying to work with students who are preparing for the exact papers I mark. The match between my experience and the students I get is always well-judged." Eleanor, AQA Examiner & A Level Geography Tutor, Geography Tutors®
